VLC Media Player is a free (and open-source) program that allows you to play many different kinds of media Ranging from video files on your computer to DVD and Blu-Ray* Disc movies, The website to download this program is here: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html *Blu-Ray Disc playback requires a BD ROM Optical Drive, and AACS and BD+ Libraries and a Keys Database, you can download the libraries from here: https://vlc-bluray.whoknowsmy.name/files Note that libbdplus.dll for Win64 DOES NOT WORK, and i haven't yet tried the Win32 version with 64 bit VLC, i'll update this thread once i buy a new bluray drive for my laptop, also most movies will work without the libbdplus library, but the libaacs library is absolutely required. For the KEYS database, you will need to download the latest version of FindVUK here: https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=172472 and then unzip the program and run "FindVUK - Synchronize.bat", it will create an up-to-date keys database automatically, and you just synchronize every once-in-a-while to get new keys. Lastly, you will need to use disc menus for proper playback, so you will need Java Installed: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp Hope this little thread helps you be able to watch your DVD and Blu-Ray movies you purchased on your PC.
When you uninstall programs from the control panel in Windows, sometimes stuff gets left over from the program you are removing. That's where this program should come in handy, instead of using the control panel to uninstall stuff, using Revo Uninstaller will not only uninstall the program but it will also search the registry and HDD for leftover files and registry keys from the program being removed, resulting in a much cleaner uninstall. The program is free of charge and is available in a portable version too https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
This is the disk defragmentation program that i use whenever i defrag my HDD. I use this program because it gives me greater detail on what's happening while my HDD gets defragged, while the built in Windows Disk Defragmentor tells me next to nothing. also i have a ton of options on how i can defrag my hdd such as optimizing by prefetch layout and optimizing in VSS compatible mode. (VSS compatible mode is important if you use restore points) and also i can perform offline disk defrag which can optimize system files that arn't normally defragmented. This program is free of charge and also has a portable edition. (install the regular version if you want all of the options, the portable edition lacks a few features.) i think this is the best program out there for defragging hard drives. https://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag/ NOTE: When installing the regular version, if the installer offers you anything after clicking install, Uncheck the box saying yes to installing whatever and hit decline.
